Winter Storm Watch Goes into Effect Tuesday, Jan. 5; Will Snow All Week

Staff Writer

A National Weather Service "Winter Storm Warning" goes into effect Jan. 5, at 10 a.m. and it is expected to snow all week, with breaks here and there. The storms will come about every 24 hours, and by the time it is over, possibly late this weekend, the forecast is for several feet of new snow on the Sierra Crest, with about half of that in Mammoth. Driving conditions in and around the Sierra are expected to be hazardous all week and cold temperatures will prevent the roads from melting out easily. In other words, drive carefully, slow down and be safe.
