What's Open, What's Not: The Latest on Roads, Recreation Options

Roads and campgrounds are beginning to close but the warm fall weather means a lot of campgrounds are still open and, the roads are still in very good shape across the Inyo National Forest lands of the Eastern Sierra. Here is a list of the latest updates:

Mono Lake Ranger District
All roads are open: Bodie (Highway 270), Lundy Canyon, June Lake Loop (Hwy 158), Monitor Pass, Panum Crater, Parker Lake, Sonora Pass (Hwy 108), Saddlebag Rd., South Tufa, Hwy 120 E, Tioga Pass (Hwy 120 W).
Campground closed for the season: Aspen Grove, Bloody Canyon Trailhead CG, Big Bend, Upper Deadman, Lower Deadman, Ellery Lake, Junction, Moraine, Obsidian Flat Group, Saddlebag Lake, Saddlebag Trailhead Group Camp, Sawmill Walk-in, Tioga Lake.
Campgrounds open: Big Springs, Glass Creek, Gull Lake, Hartley Springs, June Lake, Lower Lee Vining, Lundy Canyon (county), Oh! Ridge, Reversed Creek, Silver Lake.
Mammoth Ranger District
All roads are open: Convict Lake, Hot Creek Hatchery, Inyo Craters, Lakes Basin, Lake Mary, Laurel Canyon, Mammoth Creek, Mammoth Scenic Loop, Reds Meadow/Devils Postpile, Old Mammoth Road to Lakes Basin, San Joaquin Trail, Sherwin Creek.
Convict Lake Road Reconstruction: Expect 30 minutes delays between 7:00 am to 5:30 pm on weekdays.
Campgrounds closed for the season: Agnew Meadows, Agnew Meadows Group, Agnew Meadows Horse Campground, Coldwater, Devils Postpile (NPS), Lake George, Lake Mary, Minaret Falls, Old Shady Rest, Pine City, Pine Glen Family/Group, Pumice Flat, Pumice Flat Group, Sherwin Creek, Upper Soda Springs.
Open: Brown’s Owens River (private), Convict Lake, Crowley Lake (BLM), New Shady Rest, Mammoth Mtn. RV Park (Private), Reds Meadow, Twin Lakes.
Devils Postpile Ranger Station is open, weekends only.
White Mountain Ranger District
South Lake Parking Lot Re-paving: Boat ramp and trailer parking not available during the closure. Recreational vehicles and vehicles with trailers must turn around at Bishop Creek Lodge. Roadside parking will be authorized along South Lake Road, down canyon from Parchers Resort.  Hiking access to South Lake, Bishop Pass Trail, and Treasure Lakes will be via Parchers Resort and the Rainbow Pack Station.
Rock Creek Rd re-construction project continues. Expect 30 minutes delays between 7:00 am to 5:30 pm on weekdays. Weekend work: Contractors will be working this Saturday (10/10) from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. 
Roads open: Hwy 168 West (to Lake Sabrina), North Lake, White Mt. Rd.to the Barcroft Gate (however, road is rough in places from recent storms and have caused multiple tire punctures), Big Pine Canyon Rd, Rock Creek Road, Wyman Canyon Rd.
Campgrounds closed: Holiday, Mountain Glen, North Lake, Table Mountain, Upper Sage Flat, Willow.
Campground closing on Oct. 9th: Rock Creek Lake.
Campgrounds open: Aspen Group Camp, Bishop Park Group Camp, Clyde Glacier Group Camp, Big Meadow , Big Pine Creek,  Big Trees, Bishop Park,  Bitterbrush, East Fork, Forks, Four Jeffrey, French Camp, Goodale (BLM), Grandview (no water, no trash service, firewood is limited), Group Camp Ferguson, Group Camp Nelson, Group Camp Noren, Horton (BLM), Intake 2 Walk-in, Intake 2, Iris Meadow, McGee Creek, Mosquito Flat Backpacker, Palisade Glacier Group Camp, Pine Grove, Pleasant Valley Pit (BLM), Rock Creek Lake, Sabrina, Sage Flat, Tuff, Upper Pine Grove.
The Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest Visitor Center is open from 10am – 4:00pm, seven days a week.  Starting the week of Oct. 12th, the visitor center will be open Friday – Monday from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
Mt Whitney Ranger District:
All roads are open: Foothill Rd., Division Creek Rd., Haiwee Canyon Rd. (flood damage), Horseshoe Meadow Rd., Mazourka Canyon Rd., North Saline Valley Rd., Onion Valley Rd., Sage Flat Rd., Whitney Portal Rd.
All campgrounds open: Boulder Creek RV Resort (Private), Cottonwood Lakes/ Pass Trailhead, Diaz Lake (County), Horseshoe Meadow Equestrian, Independence Creek (County), Lone Pine, Lower Grays Meadow, Upper Grays Meadow, Onion Valley , Portagee Joe (County), Tuttle Creek (BLM), Whitney Portal, Whitney Portal Trailhead.
