10 Essentials hike, Aug. 13
What are the 10 Essentials? The 10 essentials are the fundamental supplies that every hiker should be familiar with in order to be prepared for the inherent variability of the wilderness. You never know what might happen out there, and it is important to make sure you are ready for anything before leaving the car at the trailhead. This family friendly hike is a great introduction for people of all ages on how to be ready for anything without carrying everything but the kitchen sink.

Sierra Club evening hike, Snow Ponds, Aug. 13
This hike is an easy to moderate 3 miles round trip, with short but steep sections at the beginning and end. Meet at 4:30 p.m. at the Mammoth Union Bank or 5 p.m. at the June Mountain parking lot. Contact Jean for more information at dillinghamjean@gmail.com.

Night Sky Parties at Minaret Vista, Aug. 14
Join Devils Postpile rangers for an evening of night sky exploration at the Minaret Vista Overlook. These one-hour programs start at 9 pm with telescope viewing and storytelling.
On Friday, Aug. 14, come gaze at the Perseid meteor shower, and on Saturday, Sept. 12, explore the night sky during a new moon. Dress warm and meet at the Minaret Vista Overlook. To reach the Minaret Vista Overlook from the town of Mammoth Lakes, continue driving on the Minaret Road past the Mammoth Mountain Main Lodge area for approximately one mile. The road to the Vista overlook will be on the right.

Earthquake Fault, Uptown, Downtown trail work day, Aug. 15
Join Friends of the Inyo and MLTPA in partnership with the Inyo National Forest and the Town of Mammoth Lakes and give back to your public lands! Come out and do a little trail work for the third Summer of Stewardship day of the season. We will be meeting at the Earthquake Fault and be working on the Uptown/Downtown trails and cleaning up the Earthquake Fault day use area. There will be a free bagel breakfast by Old New York Bagel and Deli and there will be a free lunch by Bleu Handcrafted Foods. During lunch, there will be a free raffle for all of those came out to volunteer, so make sure you stick around. Sierra Club hike, Hall Natural Area Reserve, Aug. 16
