The Weather Ahead This Week

Staff Writer

A high pressure system over the area will create high temperatures and very dry conditions all week, with record highs likely by Friday according to the National Weather Service. Monday and Tuesday will be the coolest days of this week, but a earlier forecast of a pulse of moisture is no longer on tap for those two days; instead the nearest possible rain will come toward the end of the week and into the weekend as a tropical system over Baja enters the area. However, the moisture that does make it north will collide with the record breaking heat, leading to possible lightning as well as rain. Fire danger will thus remain very high all week. — WG
