Supervisors to continue to meet in Mammoth once a month

Mono County supervisors will continue to meet in Mammoth Lakes one Tuesday out of their regular three meetings every month. The policy to meet once a month in Mammoth—which has most of the county’s population—has been in place for several years, after decades of meetings only in Bridgeport, which is the county seat.

The Mammoth meeting has been opposed by North County supervisors in the past, due to the much-needed economic stimulus the visiting public and county staff bring to Bridgeport on the days the supervisors meet. But after redistricting two years ago, four supervisors, including North County’s Tim Fesko, now represent at least some of Mammoth.

The supervisors voted unanimously on Jan. 8 to keep the current structure in place for at least another year.
