Huskies win on the road; Homecoming next

Down a touchdown on the road at the half, the Mammoth Huskies roared back in the second half to swipe a 14-7 victory at Riverside Prep on Friday night, Sept. 27.

With the win, Mammoth improved to 2-2 on the season (1-1 on the road) going into the Huskies' Homecoming game against Boron this coming Friday, Oct. 4.

In making a bid to rise above the .500 mark, though, Mammoth needed strong performances across the board at Riverside Prep, and they got them.

Lucas Underkoffler passed for 143 yards and a touchdown on 12-for-15 efficiency. The primary beneficiary was senior Alex Muller, who caught seven passes en route to the victory.

On defense, senior linebacker and tam captain Matt Graef notched 12 tackles (six of them solo), while junior running back Steven Orrick ran for 184 yards, including a touchdown, on 22 carries.

Mammoth's win at the varsity level took some of the sting away from the Husky JV players, who lost, 16-0, in the 4 p.m. game.
