Former Tri-County Fair CEO Sally Symons, 46, of Bishop, has been accused of embezzlement of funds from the fairgrounds.
According to the California Highway Patrol, an investigation was opened into the possible embezzlement of funds in July. On Oct. 21, Symons was detained and transported to the Bishop Area CHP Office for questioning.
The CHP said it believes Symons was embezzling funds, and forwarded its report and recommendations for various charges to Inyo County District Attorney Tom Hardy for review.
The CHP said it investigated a similar case at the fairgrounds in 2013, which resulted in an arrest. However, the law enforcement agency added that the investigations are unrelated.
