The recent Poetry Out Loud recitation contest at Mammoth Lakes Repertory Theatre is a shining example of the importance of culture and community. Poetry is designed to be recited, and the kids, some from as far away as Coleville, did a masterful job and gained tremendous experience in expressing themselves in front of a live audience.
Everyone gains from this and a powerful and lasting impact remains. Connections with people with shared passions are made and the education of kids (of all ages) heightens and brightens life in our rural home through the art and culture arena.
This part of the Sierra continues to foster unique challenges and opportunities related to creating a vibrant art/culture rich region.
Everyone came away with new skills that sharpen their abilities to effect worthwhile change in a community that is daily becoming a showcase of America’s rich cultural life.
