Andie’s Flying Circus grabbed hold of the lead in the Mammoth Mountain Village Championships on Tuesday, amassing 32 points to stay in front of the Miramar Dinosaurs.
Led by Jay Johnson and Doug Howell, who placed third and fifth in the second race of the season, the Flying Circus now sits atop the overall standings with 88 points, stretching the team’s one-point lead (after the first race) to two points.
The Dinosaurs, meanwhile, stayed well within striking range with Kelly Duff’s second-place finish on a course that was set by the Race Department’s Kevin Kermode.
Dinosaur team members also turned in the ninth, tenth and eleventh best times of the day.
Among the men, Mike Braun (Mammoth Masters) won the two-heat race with a combined time of 43.42. Duff clocked in at 44.74, with Johnson finishing at 44.77.
Kara Munsey, skiing for Dan Scheisse Pro turned in the best day among the women with a combined 44.08, while Valerie Portes finished in 44.09, followed closely by Jannine Porges, who finished in 44.97.
Both Porges women ski under the flag of Andie’s Flying Circus.
