One hundred forty-four players raised $35,000 in support of higher education and cultural enrichment at the sold-out 11th Annual Mammoth Lakes Foundation Golf Classic last Sunday, Sept. 12.
Mammoth Lakes Foundation Scholarship students and South Gateway Student Apartment students were among volunteers at Sierra Star Golf Course supporting the Mammoth Lakes Foundation scholarship fund.
Highlights of the scramble tournament included an iPad raffle, Super Ticket raffle, $5,000 putting contest, silent auction, awards party, and closest-to-the-pin prize on all par threes.
“Dave Schacht and his guys at Sierra Star were amazing to work with,” said Mammoth Lakes Foundation development manager Maya Weinhart.
“I’d also like to thank our sponsors, players, volunteers, and staff. The tournament went extremely well and we’re already looking forward to next year.”
Started in 2000, the Mammoth Lakes Foundation Golf Classic has been an integral way for the Foundation and its supporters to raise money for local student scholarships, the operation of South Gateway Student Apartments, support of the Mammoth Ski Museum and Mammoth Lakes Repertory Theatre, and planning for a proposed Mammoth Arts and Cultural Center.
