The Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association, in conjunction with the Inyo National Forest, will be conducting an art competition as part of the Grand Opening Celebration for new Bristlecone Pine Forest Visitor Center.
Both the interpretive association and the Forest Service have long identified the need for a top-of-the-line art image to promote the importance of the preservation of the ancient trees and to celebrate the grand opening of the new visitor center, scheduled for Sept. 1.
The competition is dedicated to the memory of Jeffrey Scott, renowned Eastern Sierra watercolorist and supporter of the ancient bristlecone forest.
Artists and photographers are invited to send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to receive additional information and an entry form to learn more about the competition and the $750 award for the winning image. The competition will be open to both amateurs and professionals alike from May 1 through June 30.
Additional information can also be obtained by calling John Louth of the Inyo National Forest at 760--873-2514 or Susie Fix of the Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association at 760-873-2411.
