Man from Mono celebration

uthor Lily Mathieu, whose book "Man From Mono," was first released in 1984, has just been re-published by the Mono Basin Historical Society. The new edition has 45 additional pages and 35 new photos recounting the 93 year old author's personal memories, following the conclusion of the original history of her father's life and times. Come to the Lee Vining Community Center at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3 for a potluck dinner and Historical Society business meeting, with the author event beginning at 7 p.m. There will be stories by the author, books to purchase and a chance to have books signed.

Man From Mono is now available for purchase at wholesale prices to area bookstores and vendors. Visitors to the Mono Basin History Museum in the Old Schoolhouse on Mattly Avenue in Lee Vining can purchase copies immediately. The museum and the famous Upside Down House, are operated from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. daily, except Tuesdays, all summer. Call 760 647-6461 or email curator@monobasinhs.org .
