Emergency alert system available for all Mono County residents

Mono County utilizes what is known as the CodeRed Emergency Alert System when a critical incident or emergency situation takes place within the county. This system is a database of resident and citizen information for use only in critical and emergency situations. 

Winter season ends, construction begins

The Mammoth Community Water District (MCWD) will be replacing sub-standard sewer pipeline with 2,540 feet of larger, standard PVC pipes throughout sections of Mammoth beginning this May. The project will affect two streets tin Mammoth; Meridian Boulevard and Center Street, according to the district.

U.S. 395 north and southbound lanes closed south of Big Pine, due to accident

RAW: US Highway 395 is closed to both north and southbound traffic in Inyo County near Division Creek Rest area. The highway was closed at approximately 5:00 am this morning and remains closed due to a traffic
collision involving two semi-trucks. Division Creek Rest Area was also closed as a precaution. A detour around the area is being utilized to move the traveling public.

Candidates night in Antelope Valley Thursday

The Northern Mono Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring a “Candidates Night” on April 12 at 7 p.m. at the Antelope Valley Community Center.
The Candidates for County Supervisor, District 4 will be there; Meadowcliff Resort owner Tim Fesko, Bridgeport Inn owner Bob Peters, and business owner and former Mono County Planning Commissioner Jan Huggans,
This is the time for you to ask those important questions before you vote on June 5th.
Refreshments will be served by the Northern Mono Chamber of Commerce.

UPDATE April 12, 11:20 a.m.:Los Angeles seeks to move court fight over Mammoth Creek to Fresno

UPDATE LADWP and Mammoth Community Water District agreed today to hold future court hearings over DWP's claims to Mammoth Creek water in Mono County instead of Fresno, as requested recently by DWP.

(The issue is the two lawsuits against the water district wherein DWP claims that the department owns the water rights to Mammoth Creek that Mammoth uses).

Former Bridgeport bank manager arrested on suspicion of felony embezzlement

A former Bridgeport Eastern Sierra Bank manager, Roxanna Foley, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of felony embezzlement.

On Thursday, April 5, Mono County Sheriff’s Department Investigators, in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), served several warrants in the Bridgeport area in regards to possible embezzlement from the Eastern Sierra Community Bank in Bridgeport. 

Roxanna Foley, 51, of Bridgeport, former bank branch manager of Eastern Sierra Community Bank, was arrested for felony embezzlement.

Bodie Road opens today

The Bodie Road, or S.R. 270, is scheduled to re-open at noon today. As is often the case this time of year, the opening is dependent on favorable weather. If the area is impacted by inclement weather, Caltrans may have to re-close the highway. Please check local highway conditions by calling 511 before you begin your travel.

The U.S. Forest Service is considering a proposal from “Inyo Recreation," the concessionaire that manages Forest Service campgrounds in the Mammoth area that would increase the availability and quality of reservation services at these sites.

After suing Mammoth Community Water District for access to water rights on Mammoth Creek, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is now trying to change the court venue from Mono County to Fresno, according to district manager Greg Norby. Coleville man found dead after several day search

An elderly Coleville man who had left his home for a short hike was found dead in the hills near his home after a several day search.

On the afternoon of Thursday, March 22, Mono County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call regarding an overdue hiker around the hills of Coleville.

Inyo National Forest officials release campground schedules, updates
