This Week's Weather Is... HOT!

Please think about this when you run into a store, leaving pets and/or children in the car, even if it's only for a few minutes.

After a series of rain and thunderstorms and a cold wet May, the heat is finally on in the Eastern Sierra this week, with temperatures as much as five to ten degrees above average for the rest of the week and into the weekend as well. The air will also be very dry and at times it will be windy, increasing fire danger. The change is due to a high pressure ridge settling over the area, displacing the former, unsettled pattern that allowed the wet storms to come in for much of the past six weeks. The only break from the dry and heat this week could be some scattered showers at the higher elevations of Mono County, according to the National Weather Service. —WG
