The Weather Ahead This Week

Staff Writer

The Eastern Sierra, especially the southern half of the Eastside south of Bishop, receieved its first winter-type storm over the weekend, dusting the high Sierra crest with as much as six inches of snow and dropping welcome rain on the drought-parched Owens and Long valleys. Light rain and light snow will continue today, Monday, Oct. 5, before tapering off over the night. A warming and drying trend will begin Tuesday, leading to clear skies and well-above normal temperatures by the weekend. The next chance of a storm is the following week, although it is still to early to forecast what will happen accurately. — WG
