Very Hazardous Driving Today Up and Down Eastern Sierra

Staff Writer

The National Weather Service issued a Hazardous Weather statement this morning, Dec. 29, because of the slick driving conditions up and down the Eastern Sierra and into Nevada, which has already caused innumerable accidents, some serious. The below normal temperatures today combined with the new snow that melted on the roads yesterday and has now frozen to create black ice in many places is making driving as dangerous as during a driving snowstorm, according to the NWS. The cold temperatures today and tomorrow will add to the misery, as the roads will be slow to melt out, and, will refreeze again overnight. Slow down and live. —WG
