Summerland man dies in Bluffs area accident
The Mammoth Lakes Police Department is investigating the circumstances of a single vehicle, roll-over traffic collision resulting in the death of a 30-year-old resident of Summerland, Calif.
On Tuesday, November 23, the police were notified of a vehicle that was off the roadway in the vicinity of Le Verne and Fir Streets in the Bluffs area of Mammoth Lakes. Officers located a Toyota Tacoma on its side approximately 100 feet down an embankment.
Due to the steepness of the terrain, deep snow, and near-whiteout conditions, the Mammoth Lakes Fire Department was called. Officers and paramedics discovered the deceased body of Kevin Scott Green under the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The police department is investigating the circumstances of the traffic collision and Green’s activities before the crash.
The last time he was seen alive was late Saturday evening.
It is speculated that sometime late Saturday or early Sunday, during heavy snow conditions, he missed the ninety-degree turn and drove off the roadway. At the time his body was discovered, it appeared that he’d been deceased for many hours.
Anyone with information on the activities of Mr. Green or the circumstances of the traffic collision should contact Detective Doug Hornbeck at (760) 934-2011 ext. 17.
