Apple Hill Ranch, just south of Bishop in the small community of Wilkerson, is one of the Eastern Sierra's best-kept secrets and right now the organic apricots and cherries are at their best. The ranch is 20 gorgeous acres of mountain stream-fed organic berries, mature trees full of stone fruits like apricots, peaches, pears and more, figs, pomegranates, all kinds of vegetables (the tomatoes are out of this world when they come into season) and herbs, eggs, peacocks (not for eating but for beauty) and much, much more, all lovingly husbanded by owner Rick Devore and his family. You have to see it to believe it. Pick you own or choose from the produce picked for you at the farm. For more information and directions or to see what is ripe now, call 937-0413 or go to the ranch's Facebook site.—WG
