An unusual pattern has developed during this summer’s festival season.
The events start out under blue, beautiful skies, are interrupted by the usual thunderstorm and in the end, everyone has a fine time and goes home.
So it was last weekend when the Mammoth Festival opened with a wine walk in the Village on Friday night, and an evening of music at Sam’s Woodsite on Saturday.
The star, Kenny Loggins, was just about the only star anyone could see as he strode on stage, what with the last vestiges of that afternoon’s rain clouds moving off.
But by the time he was done, the Heavens were as lit up as the stage.
This weekend is Mammoth Rocks, beginning tonight (Friday) in the Village.
It’s a free festival, engineered by the Mammoth Chamber of Commerce, featuring bands that promise original music (no cover bands are on the bill).
Those, along with a promenade of food booths, Mammoth gear and other paraphernalia, made for the mise en place.
There is no rain in the forecast, at least as of Thursday afternoon.
Given this summer’s patterns, however, a jacket with a hood might be a good bring-along, or an umbrella.
