Freebies at Millpond Fest after 4 p.m. Sunday

September 14, 2010

Next weekend's Millpond Music Festival in Bishop is offering free admission after 4 p.m. Sunday, an event official said today.

Lynn Cooper, Executive Director of the Inyo Council for the Arts, said the free admission is funded WESTAF and the California Arts Council/DOJ fund.

"We understand that these are tough economic times for many people, and we're very happy to be able to offer a few hours of high-quality, free entertainment for area families," Cooper said.

She said no tickets will be required for the free Sunday admission, just come to the main gate at Millpond County Park after 4 to enter.

“We also hope that if some people have been curious about the event, but haven’t previously attended that they will take advantage of the free admission to try the festival,” Cooper said.

The final two acts to take the Millpond stage on Sunday will be Celtic Fiddle Festival at 4 o'clock and Los Pinguos at 5:45. The Washington Post called Celtic Fiddle Festival "three of the finest folk violinists anywhere.” Fiddlers Kevin Burke (Ireland), Christian Lemaître (France) and André Brunet (Canada), along with acclaimed guitarist Nicholas Quemener combine their talents, musical traditions, and spontaneous humor for a dazzling, high energy performance that no one should miss.
