Still pending: County Administrative Officer, human resources director, risk manager
The exodus of top-level managers from Mono County government appears to have stopped and at least one vacant position is close to being filled soon.
According to Byng Hunt, the chair of the Mono County Board of Supervisors, “an offer is being negotiated as we speak” for a new finance director.
“We have some outstanding candidates,” he said. “We completed interviews for this position on Monday.”
Former finance director Brian Muir left the county after about eight years at the end of 2012.
The top county job is the County Administrative Officer, or CAO. Jim Arkens vacated that job at the beginning of February. According to Hunt, the search for a new CAO is also in full swing.
“The CAO flyer is out, and we should begin screening applicants sometime in April,” he said. “Meanwhile Lynda Salcido (Mono County’s public health director and now, interim CAO until a new CAO is found) is doing a herculean job of keeping things running smoothly during this transition process, and we all sincerely appreciate her efforts.”
Another top managerial position, that of human resource director and risk manager, will not be filled until a new CAO is found, Hunt said.
