Bluffs area accident victim died of head injuries

November 29, 2010

The 30-year-old man who died near the Bluffs area last week when his vehicle went over an embankment died from "major head injuries sustained at the time of the accident," after being partially ejected from his truck, according to the Mono County Coroner's office today.

Kevin Scott Green was visiting Mammoth at the time of the accident on Nov. 23. His home is in Summerland.

On Tuesday, November 23, the Mammoth Lakes Police were notified of a vehicle that was off the roadway in the vicinity of Le Verne and Fir Streets in the Bluffs area of Mammoth Lakes. Officers located a green Toyota Tacoma on its side approximately 100 feet down an embankment.

Due to the steepness of the terrain, deep snow, and near-whiteout conditions, the Mammoth Lakes Fire Department was called. Officers and paramedics discovered the body of Kevin Scott Green partially pinned under the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police department is investigating the circumstances of the traffic collision and Green’s activities before the crash.

The last time he was seen alive was late Saturday evening.

It is speculated that sometime late Saturday or early Sunday, during heavy snow conditions, he missed the ninety-degree turn and drove off the roadway.

Anyone with information on the activities of Mr. Green or the circumstances of the traffic collision should contact Detective Doug Hornbeck at (760) 934-2011 ext. 17.
