Bluesapalooza lineup is set
In its 17th year, Mammoth’s Festival of Beers and Bluesapalooza officials recently announced the lineup of blues talent and a grand tasting of craft brews from around the country. The event will take place Friday, Aug. 3, through Sunday, Aug. 5, outdoors among the pines at Sam’s Wood Site.
This year’s Friday night will feature the Friday Night Rock ‘N Blues Kickoff Party with legendary performances by Grammy award-winning performers including the Johnny Winter Band, Edgar Winter Group, Rick Derringer, and Mountain’s Leslie West; the energetic blues family Trampled Under Foot; and Australia’s own Harper and Midwest Kind.
Saturday’s Bluesapalooza will feature soul singer Bettye LaVette; blues harmonica master Charlie Musselwhite; premier blues/jazz/rock guitarist Robben Ford and The Ford Blues Band; straight from the Bayou, the rockabilly sounds of Honey Island Swamp Band, and blues powerhouse Albert Cummings.
Festival goers are invited to unwind, kick back and relax at Sunday’s Soulful Hangover Party with legendary session player and singer/songwriter Leon Russell; award-winning blues rocker Joe Louis Walker; special guest veteran Texas Blues guitarist Hadden Sayers; and hard-charging bluesman Shane Dwight.
“This year’s band lineup is truly legendary” said Sean Turner of Mammoth Brewing Company, the event’s sponsor. “From Friday Night’s Rock ‘N Blues to Sunday’s Soulful Hangover Party with Leon Russell, Mammoth will hear some of the best musicians ever to play a Mammoth stage. And, of course, we’re bringing back only the finest in craft brews!”
On Saturday, the Mammoth Festival of Beers Grand Tasting will feature 60 of the country’s best craft breweries from companies such as Mammoth Brewing Company (sponsor of the event), Fireman’s Brew, Deschutes, Mendocino, Alaskan, Bear Republic, Anderson Valley, Stone, Lost Coast, Green Flash, Ballast Point, Kern River, Firestone, San Diego, Sierra Nevada, Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing, New Belgium, and many more. Along with the beer and blues, plenty of blues food from some of Mammoth’s restaurants will be served in the Blues Food Court.
