Aussie Stuart Brown leaves AYSO, passes ball to Kiwi Stuart Reed

December 14, 2012

Stuart Brown, the affable Aussie who for four years has served as the regional commissioner of AYSO youth soccer, announced this week he is leaving his post.

“Hopefully, you’re leaving something in better shape than when you started,” he said.

Brown, 46, served two terms and earned respect and kudos from the players as well as the AYSO Board of Directors.

“We believe that he has demonstrated unparalleled leadership abilities, compassion, problem solving capacity, love for the community and volunteerism that exceeds our most model Mammoth citizen,” said board member Lou Margulies.

“His love for the game of soccer and desire to see the Mammoth program develop and grow to one of excellence is recognized by the fact that under his leadership we have become the largest youth participation sporting opportunity in Mono County.”

Brown passes his post to Stuart Need, proprietor of Lakanuki and a native New Zealander.

A send-off party for Brown will be at Lakanuki on Wednesday, Dec. 19, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Margulies said.
