Weather and air quality conditions permitting, fire crews plan to complete pile burning in two locations in the Mammoth Lakes area today, with the target of 10 acres near Mammoth Knolls and 6 acres near Old Shady Rest, according to the Inyo National Forest.

The American Red Cross shelter at Mammoth High School will be closing today, Wednesday, February 22, 2017. Since opening the temporary shelter, Mono County Social Services and the Red Cross have provided 22 overnight stays at the shelter.
The Mono County Sheriff's Office is reporting that today's storm brings a potential for large avalanches reaching Old Crowley Lake Drive between Long Valley and McGee, upper Rock Creek Road in the Narrows, Twin Lakes Bridgeport (past Twin Lakes Resort) and Mountain View in Swall Meadows.
About 20 people, including families, are now unable to live in their homes after a series of storm-related damages forced Mono County officials to condemn or "red tag" several residences in the town of Mammoth Lakes, including multi-family residences.
