Wild Iris a true blessing

March 9, 2012

I would like to thank Wild Iris for all that they have done for me and our community. The staff is amazing. The organization is amazing. They have truly been a blessing to my life. When I thought I had no one to turn to, they were always there for me, there to talk to, there to help with bills, there to help with food, there to help with clothing, there to help with friendship and love.

Special thank you to some friendly people!

March 2, 2012

I would like to publically express my appreciation to Tim Bue and Leslie Yen, both employees of the Inyo National Forest Service and administrators for special use permits on INFS land.

The Mammoth Lakes Foundation is to be applauded

March 2, 2012

“It’s evident to those of us who love Mammoth, that though ski slopes and mountain air may have brought us here, our community also needs facilities that exhilarate the mind,” says Dave McCoy, Founder of Mammoth Lakes Foundation and Mammoth Mountain Ski Area.

Kudos to Mammoth Hospital

March 2, 2012

When a medical accident occurs, it is so reassuring to know that our hospital is always ready to serve.

Regarding Mammoth Lakes Public Arts Commission

February 24, 2012

I am one of the Public Arts Commission (PAC) members. I have been on the PAC since its inception. I am resigning, not out of a sense of pique over the Town Council’s decision last Wednesday to give the gateway monument project $250,000 of PAC funds, but out of a recognition of the realities of the situation.

February 24, 2012

Regarding “Pick up sticks … the really huge ones,” (Jan. 13, 2012), the Student Conservation Association is sharpening its crosscut saws and hoping to do our part to help open hiking and riding trails on the Inyo National Forest, specifically within the Mammoth Ranger District.

Thank you, anonymous person

February 20, 2012

On Jan. 7, a very nice person found my ATM card and driver license at the Sierra Center Mall and returned them to the police station.

This person did not leave his or her name. I just want to thank him or her for being so kind!

Fireworks at Crowley Lake need to stay

February 20, 2012

I would hope that the Town finds the funds to continue the long and cherished tradition of the Crowley Lake fireworks on the 4th of July.

Inaccuracies in previous letter

January 6, 2012

The letter titled “For the Nordic Record,” submitted by Brian Knox and published in the Dec. 23, 2011, edition, contains factual inaccuracies that we would like to address here.

The Town of Mammoth Lakes—not MLTPA—has submitted a Measure R application for a multi-year funding commitment supporting a cooperative effort between the Town and the Inyo National Forest to establish and maintain the Mammoth Lakes Trail System (MLTS).
