Chances are, when one thinks of soul men, it’s a memory of that old song by Sam and Dave, “I’m a soul man.”
But that wouldn’t be the current usage. “Soul Men” is the name of the first program of Chamber Music Unbound’s winter music series.
Mammoth’s resident Felici Piano Trio will perform Bach, the grand master of the Baroque; the great Classical hero, Beethoven; Chopin, the Romantic piano virtuoso; and the eloquent musical narrator Robert Schumann.
The community is invited to a wedding reception and the party won’t come to a close until someone is dead!
You haven’t had an invitation like this one before, you say? “I’m Getting Murdered in the Morning” is Playhouse 395’s first mystery dinner theater event Oct. 7 - 10 at the Bishop Country Club banquet room.
Audience members are invited to guess who-dun-it, becoming guests at the most unlikely wedding celebration ever attended.

It’ll be some kind of book signing Saturday afternoon, Sept. 25, at the Booky Joint, where John Muir “Jack” Laws not only will sign his swell new guidebook, but also will offer some artistic demonstrations.
Laws will sprinkle how-to demos in illustration, painting and sketching at the event, which starts at one o’clock and ends at 3.
Dave Leonard, owner of the bookstore, said Laws is a very entertaining guest, and for the Booky Joint to have him is a real treat.
He said refreshments will be served during the book signing, but the book is a refreshment in itself.
