'Tis better to give than to take

December 7, 2012

Every year, Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra does its biggest fundraiser in December. Its Island Extravaganza has been an extraordinary example of the Eastern Sierra community coming together for a night of music, mingling, and good food—all in the name of supporting a fabulous organization.

In addition to the many volunteers it takes to keep DSES going, it also takes an enormous amount of funding to keep the programs moving forward. One of the ways volunteers help DSES raise funds is by selling raffle tickets.

Tap-tap-tap

December 7, 2012

And so it begins.

The Mammoth Lakes Town Council approved its “Restructuring Plan” Wednesday evening, cutting police, public works, parks, salaries, and staff positions.

Everyone knew it was coming; there were no surprises.

Even so, that tap-tap-tap tapping sound you hear is the sound of nervous fingers.

Just what the heck is going to happen, anyway?

A belated thank you

December 7, 2012

The Lee Vining Elementary PTO would like to thank all of the volunteers and sponsors who helped make our Annual Halloween Carnival a success. We are humbled by the widespread community support we received throughout Mono County.

The monies the Lee Vining PTO raised from this event will fund supplemental opportunities and supplies for students in the areas of music, P.E. and art.
