A 67-year-old San Francisco man, George Kohler, was found dead in Death Valley Tuesday, after a weeklong search. His body was found between the Mesquite Spring campground, here he was last seen, and the Scotty’s Castle Road in Death Valley National Park.

County might get involved in mediation regarding airport lawsuit

Mono County has been invited to join in a possible mediation process between the Town of Mammoth Lakes and Mammoth Lakes Land Acquisition, according to county staff.

The county’s sheriff department, the GIS department, and the animal control department got the invitation from the Town’s attorneys earlier this month because these departments are considered to be creditors of the Town (they provide services to the Town including dispatch services through the sheriff’s department), county counsel Marshall Rudolph said.

Mammoth Lakes resident Joseph Walker pleaded guilty to five felony counts of illegal sexual activity with a minor on  Friday, March 9 in a Santa Barbara court, waiving his right to a trial and almost ensuring he serves time in state prison.
