Christmas tree permits are now available at the Mammoth Lakes Ranger District. Permits are $5 per tree and both pinyon pine and fir trees can be taken. The Christmas tree cutting area maps are available when you pick up your permit.
For more information, contact the Inyo National Forest at 760-924-5500 or go to the Mammoth Lakes California Welcome Center at 2510 Main St. at the entrance to the town of Mammoth Lakes, three miles west of S.R. 395.
The Mammoth Lakes Chamber's holiday fundraiser this year will be held tomorrow, Dec. 3, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Jimmy's Taverna and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Wild Iris, according to the chamber.
Each year, Wild Iris serves hundreds of Mono County’s most vulnerable residents: those who are victims of domestic violence. The numbers continue to grow for individuals seeking our services, and sadly, the increase in numbers includes more and more victims under the age of 18, according to the chamber.
