Tim Fesko is Mono County’s District 4 supervisor, after a long runoff battle with candidate Bob Peters.
Fesko took the seat with 53.7 percent of the vote against Peters' 46.3 percent. The vote totals do not include provisional ballots which will be counted this week, but election officials said Wednesday that the several hundred provisional ballots still uncounted are not likely to change the final outcome of the District 4 race, given Fesko's lead.

Always a big player but consistently in the background of Mammoth’s increasingly tumultuous town politics, Mammoth Mountain CEO Rusty Gregory declared this week a startling change of face.
The Mountain, and Gregory in particular, is about to take a central—and more public—role in town government.

Mammoth has a new nightclub, right where an old one used to be.
The space that was occupied by The Auld Dubliner in the Village will become a new club venue under the management of Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, according to Mammoth Mountain CEO Rusty Gregory.
The re-opening of the venue, presumably under a new name, will offer the kind of venue aimed for young singles, as did the old Hyde Lounge.
Last month, the ski area announced it would open a new restaurant, “Campo Mammoth,†in the old Hyde Spot.
Crowley Lake residents said Tuesday that Mono County District 2 Supervisor Duane "Hap" Hazard had a heart attack last week.
They said the outgoing supervisor is apparently now back home. We are wishing him a speedy and full recovery.

After a one-year planned hiatus, June Mountain Ski Area will re-open for the 2013-14 winter season, CEO Rusty Gregory said Monday.
“We're going to open it up,†he said during an interview. “We submitted our operating plan to the Forest Service and now we’re waiting for approval, and part of that operating plan is letting them know that we intend to open it as normal for the 2013-14 season.â€

Cage: ‘He fit the mold perfectly’
When Greg Norby announced this week that he was resigning from his post as the Mammoth Community Water District to move closer to family, no one was clapping.
Without water, a town, a community is nothing. Norby has been at the helm of the small but critical government agency for almost four years.
Tom Cage, one of the district’s board of directors, wishes it were 20.

Two Republican candidates run for Mono and Inyo 8th Congressional District
There are two candidates vying next week to fill Howard P. “Buck” McKeon’s 25th Congressional District seat: Tea Party favorite and a co-founder of the anti-immigrant California Minuteman group, Gregg Imus, and current 65th Assembly District Assemblyman, Paul Cook (R-Yucca Valley).
Snowfall forecast? We go with Kittregde/P3/Chevron/Hertz prognosticator Tom Cage, here for more than three decades, who predicts 73 percent of normal, which isn’t great, but not bad. “It’s strictly a gut feeling,” sez he. Reason for reasonable optimism? “At least it didn’t snow in September; that’s the kiss of death.” …
“I’m not sure how to work this suction-cup mount,” Fido said.
“Well, it’s not going to fit on the end of your snout. That’s just a hunch, but I think it’s a good one.”
“Arummphh. Uraggh.”
“Fido, just what in the world are you doing?”
“I have a new GoSniff, but I can’t get it to work right.”
“GoSniff? What in the world is a GoSniff?”
“It’s like a GoPro, but those things are useless for dogs.”
Chamber Music Unbound presents the second program of the season, “Mr. Clarinet,” featuring the resident Felici Trio and the principal clarinetist of the Israel Philharmonic, Ron Selka.
Opening the concert is the entertaining “Suite for Violin, Clarinet, and Piano” by the French composer Darious Milhaud, followed by Beethoven’s very first published work, the effervescent “Piano Trio in E-flat.”
The finale is the richly romantic trio by German composer, Alexander Zemlinsky.
After three years of planning, Digital 395 crews were set to hit the area south of Mammoth this week, officials said.
“The plowing and boring south of Mammoth along 395 will be quite visible to the locals and there will be some heavy equipment for sure,” said Michael Ort, the private developer for the huge, 563-mile-long high-speed broadband digital cable installation project.
“They start this week along that section (near McGee Creek), moving south toward Bishop,” he said.
