The body of a backcountry skier missing since April 19 was found late last week after a several-day search of the Mt. Dana area.
Boris Adveev, 31, Ann Arbor, Michigan, was found dead at about 3: 30 p.m. last Thursday at Cocaine Chute, a popular backcountry ski descent on Mt. Dana, which is located west of Lee Vining and near the eastern border of Yosemite National Park. His body was recovered last Friday afternoon, May 4, by Mono County Search and Rescue team members.

The Town Council on Wednesday evening got to the down-and-dirty, but apparently the general public had better things to do than discuss town finances.
The Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association, in conjunction with the Inyo National Forest, will be conducting an art competition as part of the Grand Opening Celebration for new Bristlecone Pine Forest Visitor Center.
The Sierra Summer Festival (a nonprofit 501(c3) organization) is currently seeking donations of housing for its orchestra.
Shira Dubrovner, artistic director of the Mammoth Lakes Foundation, this week was accepted into the well-respected Directors Lab West.

Fishing entrepreneur Ronnie Kovach, who last weekend led seminars for anglers in the Village, got a surprise phone call at the otherworldly time of 8 a.m. last Saturday.
The Tioga Pass Gate on S.R. 120 was closed to vehicles last weekend, but not to cyclists, and members of Mammoth’s Eastside Velo Club took full advantage. Sadly, that beautiful ride is about to come to an end. Cars, RVs, pickups and the other motorists start heading into the park on Monday. …
