The Tioga Road in Yosemite National Park will close at 7 p.m. this evening,Tuesday, Jan.17, park officials said.

“A series of wet weather systems, with the possibility of heavy snow at the higher elevations, are predicated over the next several days,” said Kari Cobb, Yosemite spokesperson.

“This possible precipitation, coupled with cold temperatures, will result in hazardous driving conditions on the road.”

Mammoth will throw a “WELCOME HOME” party for Olympian Meb Keflezighi this evening at the Village, according to the Mammoth Visitors Bureau.

Meb Keflizighi of the Mammoth Track Club won the U.S. National Marathon Olympic Trial Saturday in Houston, setting a personal record along the way.
Ryan Hall, a former Mammoth runner who split away from the Mammoth Track Club more than a year ago, placed second.

It was the smoke alarm shrieking into the deepest hours of the night that woke eight-year-old Hana MacLean of Mammoth Lakes and probably saved her life.
It was Hana, though, who likely saved her parents lives shortly thereafter.
It was sometime around midnight on Jan. 10 and Mammoth was fast asleep, including Hana.
