When a reverse 911 call alerting some Mammoth residents about power outages went out in the middle of the storms earlier this week, cell phone-only users were by and large left out. The reverse 911 system is dependent upon the fact that landline users are already in a database as customers of their landline company. The same is not true for cell phone users.

The attorney representing Dr. Andrew Bourne said Thursday that emails police say implicate his client in a child sex scandal “seem to be innocuous.”

Friday the 13th is a day that’s been widely considered unlucky. Those who happen to ride at June Mountain this past Friday the 13th would beg to differ. Three lucky locals and one budding international star turned an supposedly unlucky day into a prosperous one. Local shredders Pete Roman, Alex McCoy and Mike Fucci and Cove Bikes/5.10/Troy Lee factory-sponsored rider Mikey Sylvestri opted for an entirely different approach to the lack of snow as of late.
The Mammoth Lakes Repertory Theatre, in cooperation with Mammoth Lakes Foundation, will present the Second Annual Mono County Finals in the national Poetry Out Loud competition Saturday, Jan. 28, at 6 p.m.
